Rubber: Waterproof and the most durable, especially on asphalt. Excellent for recreational play and beginners.
PVC: Durable and scuff/water-resistant, but not as soft as polyurethane. Often has a glossy coating for additional protection.
Polyurethane: Provides the benefits of synthetics (for touch) and plastics (for durability). Feels a lot like leather and is scuff/water-resistant. Glossy coating for additional protection.
Composite: Offers superior touch and softness, but is generally less durable and less water-resistant than polyurethane.

Butyl: Retains air exceptionally well and provides uniform pressure dispersion.
C-2: Allows the same superior touch and rebound of latex, but with improved air-retention due to its mix of carbon and latex.
Latex: Offers the best touch and rebound. It does not hold air as well as C-2 and butyl. Generally requires more frequent filling.
