This trainer is great for different exercises and user skill levels, whether you use it dome- or platform-side down.
BOSU stands for “Both Sides Up,” because this trainer can be used with the dome side up and the base on the floor, or with the dome on the floor and the base side up. This versatile trainer acts as 4 products in 1: a balance board, plyo box, balance disc, and stability ball.
With the dome side up you can do balance squats, lunges, aerobic step-up exercises, crunches, and other abdominal work. With the dome side down you can do balance pushups with your hands or feet on the platform, rocking planks, hip extensions with your feet on the platform, and much more.
All of these options provide more stability, safety, and versatility, as movements are limitless and the flat side is more stable than the full roundness of a stability ball. Just as you can use a plyo box to do pushups, dips or step ups, you can do this with this trainer without having to worry about injury. It is great for low-impact use and body weight movements, which are much better for joints than high-impact exercises.
The solid base provides stability while the domed top provides an inflated unstable surface, forcing users to engage their core and stabilizer muscles to maintain control of their movement. It features a thick 6.5 lb PVC bladder with a tacky finish for added grip and durability. A single-molded polypropylene platform with molded-in handles combined with 6 non-skid, non-marring feet make for a solid, steady base. It is best suited for indoor use, as it requires a smooth, flat surface.
Easily inflate the trainer to your preferred level to vary the stability and the amount of challenge you have in your exercise. More air provides more stability, while less air makes balancing slightly harder due to less stability. With routine use, the BOSU® effectively increases strength, improves balance, enhances flexibility, and fine-tunes sport skills. This is our entry-level BOSU, which makes it great for beginners who are looking to start developing their skills more seriously.
