The "stabilizing block" is absolutely the wrong thing. I sought a firm foam rubber block my physical therapists used to help me regain my balance after a stroke. You stand on it and work on maintaining your balance. The block I received is too small (no way to tell it's size in the website description), and it's too firm. Stand on it and it's like a cinder block. It's useless.

"Dear Mark, Thank you for taking the time and courtesy to provide your on line review. I am sorry that the Foam Stabilizing Block that your purchased did not meet your expectations. We have sold 5,000 plus over the past year and have had zero returns. I checked the website and it does contain dimensions but I will talk to the Category Manager of this product if he can make the description more clear. I am wondering if by chance when you purchased this product this yoga assistance tool thinking it was a squishy foam balance pad that operates like a BOSU trainer (we used to carry pads like these 4-5 years ago). The Foam Stabilizing Block is the uniform material and dimensions used by the entire yoga industry accord8ing to our CM. We appreciate and value your feedback and want to make the situation right for you. Normally we would contact your directly but since you did not provide your contact information we have no way to contact you. Please contact us at customercare@gophersport.com or 1(800)533-0446 and we can arrange to either replace these foam stabilizing blocks with something that might better fit your needs. Appreciatively, Mike Prochaska Vice President of Supply Chain "

Sport Tips

Why incorporate yoga into my fitness program?

By using a combination of exercise and breathing techniques, yoga provides a total-body workout that has both physical and mental benefits. In most yoga classes, the focus is on physical poses (called asanas) that can be done quickly to increase heart rate and develop strength, or more slowly to increase stamina, improve balance, and promote flexibility.

There are two main components of yoga:

Exercise: Engages your core muscles and provides an excellent total-body workout. Enhances balance, flexibility, posture, coordination, strength, and endurance.

Breathing/Reflection: Improves focus and concentration and teaches stress management skills.

Whether incorporating yoga into a PE class or an afterschool program, the benefits of yoga extend beyond the classroom as students relate breath control and relaxation techniques to other everyday situations. Applying these techniques can help students' concentration and focus in the classroom as well as out, such as remaining calm in an argument or preparing for an exam.
