Like Simon Says, but with a full-body twist!
Students will build listening skills, practice following directions, and get an endurance workout that’s fun at the same time! Twister is a great way to get students up and moving, helping them stretch and learn in a non-traditional way. Plus, the game can easily be set up—just lay out the mat and flick the spinner to get things started.
How to Play
Twister is played with 2 pieces of equipment: a mat and a spinner. The mat has various colored polka dots in rows like a grid, while the spinner has these same colors, as well as the names of body parts on it. Students will stand on the mat while a spinner spins, calling out the color and body part selected. Students on the mat will then need to follow directions. For example, if the objective is “right hand, red,” all students must place their right hand on a red square.
As the game progresses and different objectives are called out, students will become tangled and contorted! They’ll need to be fast to get to available spots before another player. If a student is unable to keep their balance or falls over, or is unable to reach a color with a body part, they’re out. The last player standing wins!
Includes 1 Twister mat, 1 spinner, and instructions. For 2 or more players, ages 6 and up.
