Molded from the rock cliffs on Lake Superior for the look and feel of real rock!

Textured 4'W x 4'H panels vary in thickness from 1" to 2-1/2" to create a realistic, dimensional climbing experience. High-density composite construction makes each panel lightweight and easy to install. Each panel has 20 predrilled holes for hand holds. Includes mounting hardware, allen wrench, and bolts. Systems also include a climbing wall rules sign. Your Gopher representative can help you identify fasteners required for your wall type. We can install. For safety and to prevent unsupervised use, we recommend our ULTRAverse™ SafetyClose™ Mat System for climbing walls. Truck delivery.

What do I need to know about traverse climbing?

Traverse climbing is a safer type of climbing challenge, without ropes or harnesses required!

1. Why incorporate traverse climbing into my curriculum?

In traverse climbing, climbers advance across a wall horizontally instead of vertically, with their feet never more than two or three feet from the floor. Hand/foot holds of different shapes and sizes are positioned throughout the wall to create changeable routes and challenges for various ages and skill levels. The activity is continuous as climbers traverse from one end of the wall to the other, over and over again.
 
Climbing addresses national physical education goals by building:
  • Physical Skills: Strength, balance, coordination
  • Interpersonal Skills: Communication, teamwork, conflict resolution
  • Cognitive Skills: Planning, decision making, problem solving


2. Which climbing wall is right for me?

A typical traverse wall is 8' to 10' in height and usually 20' to 40' in width. Use these guidelines when determining wall height and width.

Size

  • 8'H Wall:  Elementary Ages
  • 10'H Wall: Middle/High School Ages
  • 20'W Wall: 5-6 climbers at once
  • 40'W Wall: 10-12 climbers at once

Surface Options

  • Textured: Enhances traction and durability
  • Molded/Sculpted: Provides a realistic rock-like look and feel
  • Dimensional Features: Adds vareity and challenge
  • Custom: Allows unique graphics, sizes, and dimensional features

Installation

  • Install the wall on your own following manufacturer installation instructions, or
  • Contact Gopher to arrange professional installation for you.

Safety

  • Ensure proper installation of the wall and holds.
  • Place landing mats under and around the wall.
  • Provide clear direction for proper use of the wall.
  • Supervise climbing at all times.
  • Secure or close the wall when not in use.
