What do I need to know about traverse climbing?

Traverse climbing is a safer type of climbing challenge, without ropes or harnesses required!1. Why incorporate traverse climbing into my curriculum?
In traverse climbing, climbers advance across a wall horizontally instead of vertically, with their feet never more than two or three feet from the floor. Hand/foot holds of different shapes and sizes are positioned throughout the wall to create changeable routes and challenges for various ages and skill levels. The activity is continuous as climbers traverse from one end of the wall to the other, over and over again.

Easy Ordering
- Determine the size of wall you need and the graphics you'd like to include.
- Create an illustration of your design using either computer graphics or traditional methods. (Note: if you need artistic support, we can help develop a custom design from your idea. This may impact production times.)

- Send us your artwork, then review and either approve or make changes to the color proof.
- Receive and install your Custom Climbing Wall!

What types of artwork can I send? We can use virtually any artistic rendering, from digital .jpeg or .pdf files to hand-drawn student artwork. (Please note, shipping original artwork presents a risk of loss in transit. We recommend scanning and keeping a copy of the original.)
Can Gopher provide design assistance? Yes! Whether you have a finished design, a rough sketch, or simply an idea in mind, we'll work with you to make your Custom Climbing Wall a reality.
How many colors can my climbing wall be? With brilliant Gym-Text™ paint, your color palette is virtually unlimited. We match your original artwork as closely as possible; please note that final colors may vary slightly.
What if I need a size other than those listed? If you prefer a narrower, wider, or taller wall, we can accommodate your needs. You can specify virtually any width within 4' increments, as well as taller, 10'H walls.
How will I know that the design is what I wanted? Before we produce your Custom Climbing Wall, we will email you a color proof of the artwork. An authorized signature is required (sent via mail or email) to begin production.
Is there an additional charge for the color proof or revisions to artwork? No. The pricing for our Custom Climbing Walls includes the initial artwork preparation, color approval and minor revisions.
How long will it take to produce my Custom Climbing Wall? From the time you send us your artwork, to the day you receive your climbing wall, you can expect the process to take approximately four to six weeks. (Timeframe may vary based on complexity of design or delays in proof approval - see Fast Turnaround, above.)
How do I install my Custom Climbing Wall? Professional installation is recommended. Prior to installing the climbing wall, the contractor will need to construct a subwall frame (see Subwall Instructions).
