How to Play
The objective of this game is to score the most points by collecting letter tiles and creating words as a team. To play, randomly scatter the 98 Scramble tiles facedown along one end of the gym. Divide your class into 4 equal teams and assign each team a name or number. Station teams at the opposite end of the gym from the letter tiles. Assign a physical challenge for the 4 teams (this can be a relay, an obstacle course, or a simple movement like skipping).
Here’s an example of a relay race. Begin by having the first 4 students on each team race to the tile area and retrieve one Scramble tile each. They must then race back to their teams, tag the next student in line, and then sit down around a designated puzzle-building area. The first team seated after completing the relay begins by trying to create as many words as possible on the floor using the letter tiles collected during a relay. Teams then rotate turns in a clockwise manner. All words from the other teams will build off of Team 1's beginning words. If Team 1 is unable to create a word, then Team 2 begins. Continue the puzzle building in rounds until all possible letter combinations from all 4 teams have been exhausted and no more words can be created or modified. Teams with extra tiles at the end of the round will retain them in their area around the puzzle for use in the next round. After the first round is completed, repeat the physical challenge and continue the activity as described above. In this example, you will have enough Scramble tiles to complete 4 rounds of the game (there will be 2 tiles left over). Each word created is worth 1 point and the team with the most points wins.
Overall, this game allows your kids to play and have fun while enhancing their spelling skills and engaging in communication and teamwork.
