It takes hand/eye coordination, dexterity, and quick reflexes to master swing-n-catch cups—do you have what it takes? This simple ball attached to a cup design isn’t so simple when you’re trying to ring it in, and it’s an activity that will keep students engaged as they try to master the right force, angle, and technique. This low-profile game needs minimal space, making it a great classroom activity.

Develop Coordination

Swinging the ball into the cup is easier said than done, and requires a focus on coordination, dexterity, and reflex to master. Students will quickly see that a controlled approach is required to cup the ball, which will have them slowing down and thinking critically about how to approach the task at hand. It’s a simple, yet extremely effective way to hone the coordination skills of students!

Simple, Yet Complicated Game

The concept of this cup-and-ball game is simple, however it takes time and practice to master. Players hold the cup in their hand, with the ball hanging freely. Players swing the cup gently to propel the ball upward and over the top of the cup. The score, the ball needs to land in the cup and stay there.

Because the ball is attached to the cup with a nylon rope, it moves in tandem with the cup. This takes practice to master and will have students trying over and over to get their ball into the cup. Even after the land their first score, they’ll be back at it, to see how quickly they can do it again!
