Less intimidating than climbing ropes, yet just as effective in helping students hone upper-body strength and coordination, a climbing net is ideal for younger students and small groups of climbers. Strong, durable nets come in a range of mesh sizes and overall sizes, with Standard and Heavy-Duty options available.

Build Skills Through Climbing

Because they’re more expansive than single climbing ropes, large indoor climbing nets are a great way for multiple students to climb at the same time. With multiple students able to climb together, students will have to maneuver up and down while other students do the same thing, causing the net to move and sway, adding another level of challenge for students as they build endurance and upper-body strength. Climbing with peers also demands spatial awareness, coordination, and teamwork, to ensure everyone gets to the top and back.

Strong, Durable Construction

These cargo nets for climbing in indoor gyms are designed to withstand the rigors of an institutional setting. Nets feature durable polypropylene with a non-slip hitch design at all mesh intersections for added reliability.

Net tops feature a 4'L lanyard for tying nets onto smooth-surface ceiling hardware or frameworks. The top of each net also features large, 4" dia spliced eye-loops for secure hanging. A minimum of 5 attachments is recommended per net for Standard and Heavy-Duty. Nets include installation instructions, information on usage/maintenance, and activities.

Diverse Net Styles

  • Standard Nets feature 3/4" horizontal and 1/2" vertical rope, making the vertical rope easier to hold on to for younger students who have smaller hands and the horizontal better for accommodating footing.
  • Heavy-Duty Nets use thicker 3/4" rope both horizontally and vertically, to easily handle multiple users without sagging.

Both net styles are available with varied square dimensions for the mesh. It’s recommended that schools use 12" square mesh for middle school ages and up, and 9" square mesh for elementary ages. Smaller square holes are easier for younger students to maneuver through because they are closer together, lessening the need to reach between squares to climb.

The overall size of nets varies depending on the net style and square mesh hole size. Nets range from 10'W x 10'H on the small end, all the way up to 14'W x 18'H. Choose the option that fits your gym and your students!
