This magnetic base system keeps the bases securely in place, but will “give” with impact to protect players from injury. The base easily re-connects after the play to cause little to no interruption to the game.
Magnetic bases will break away from their stakes when players collide with them during a fast or improper slide. By breaking away, the bases prevent severe upper- or lower-body injuries. Official bases at higher levels of play do not have these same features, so these are especially beneficial for players who are still perfecting their slide technique. These are also approved for Little League play, so young players stay safe.
They work with the use of magnets in the stakes, which connect metal on the bottom of each base. The magnets disengage when a certain amount of pressure is applied to the base. There are 3 levels of force:
- Moderate Pressure: The base shifts slightly.
- Heavy Pressure: The base shifts even more.
- Excessive Pressure: The bases breaks away entirely.
Durable molded-rubber construction protects these bases through years of rough play. They will not crack or rip over time, preserving their integrity. A textured and channeled top prevents students from slipping on them when rounding the bases, even in wet and slippery conditions.
The bases are official size at 15”L x 15”W x 3”H. Bases sold individually with a magnetic ground plate and steel post. Additional anchors and plugs sold separately.
