What is Wallyball?
Wallyball combines the basic idea of volleyball and blends it with the all-wall play and speed of racquetball. After being served, the ball can hit any number of walls, including the back wall and ceiling, during the course of your 3 hits on your site. Wallyball can be played with teams of 2 to 4 on a side, allowing this game to be played by up to 8 people in a small area.
A Wallyball court measures 40 feet (12 m) long, 20 feet (6 m) wide, and 20 feet (6 m) high. A center line divides the court in half. Hang the net above the center line, traversing the entire width of the court. Ensure the net is no more than 8’ (2.44 m) above the floor for men’s Wallyball games and no more than 7’6” (2.29 m) above the floor for women’s games. Two service areas are on each side, extending across the entire width of the court and a foot from each end wall.
The included wallyball net measures 18.6’ long and 36” high. With an all-black color, it is easily visible on an all-white racquetball court and is similar to a smaller volleyball net construction.
The wallyball ball used in this game looks like a volleyball, but has very different features. Known as “The Equalizer,” the official competition Wallyball features soft rubber and that absorbs constant wall impact. The soft rubber cover also helps absorb impact during game play so players do not have to worry about getting stung by the ball.
